Svendborg Ungdomsskole

Svendborg Ungdomsskole consists of a school with activities after normal school hours and a number of youth clubs. It is funded by the municipality of Svendborg. We aim at providing young people with a frame for developing and consolidating their skills and competences and at supporting their development as active citizens by offering them various options in their leisure time, among others, activities in the youth clubs and and courses in e.g. mathematics, sport, ICT, music and languages. We also offer young people from the municipality a number of excursions and trips – both abroad and to other parts of the country, including outdoor activities such as horseback riding, canoeing or climbing.

Snack II

SNACK II was a 6 day long youth exchange in Cascais, Portugal. The participants were 46 young people and their leaders from Portugal and Denmark.
The aim of the project was to strengthen young people's European identity and to promote European citizenship, a healthy and active lifestyle and intercultural learning.
The project took the participants' mutual, intercultural reflections on the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle as its starting point. The theme was dealt through many different activities.
In an informal way the participants learned:

1. to use nature's resources in a sustainable manner
2. to cope under unusual conditions
3. many different kinds of sports (surfing, orienteering, golf, rock climbing)
4. the importance of the past when dealing with the present
5. the importance of intercultural competences

Through activities at sea, in the woods, on the beach, in the town and at the camp the young people learned to work towards a common aim, using their linguistic and manual competences. These activities provided knew knowledge, which form the basis for innovative, social and intercultural reflection.
